Style: IPA
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 60
$$: $6
Pour:
Pours a bright coppery orange with fine, slightly off white head.
On The Nose:
All things orange!! lots of fresh squeezed juice, candied orange zest and orange sherbet. Getting lots of grapefruit pith too, stewed apricot, lychee and zesty pineapple. Lots of floral, freshly crushed pine in the background with fine resin character.
Palate:
Classic West Coast IPA notes: Packed with juicy citrus, lots of zesty pineapple and passionfruit with hints of sweet apricot and peach. The bitterness is outstanding and coats the mouth with chewy resin and sticky pine needles, bitterness is lingering with sticky sap and tropical fruits.
Final Thoughts:
This is a brilliant and accessible West Coast IPA for those trying to get in to the IPA style. Juicy and candied orange grapefruit pith and subtle apricot sweetness with fantastic bitterness in the form of crushed pine needles and sappy resin. This brew is just as the label suggests: a hop bomb of epic proportions. I couldn’t help but think of Major Kong riding the nuclear bomb in Dr Strangelove. Awesome.
