Mornington Peninsula IPA

mpIPA

After having the excellent collaboration they did with Stillwater at GABS, I figured I could no longer put off trying the greatness that is Mornington Peninsula. Honestly, I’m surprised I haven’t had any of their stuff before! So much just goes under the radar! I need to work on my attention span…… Oh look! A bottle of Mornington Peninsula IPA!

Style: IPA

ABV: 6.2%

IBU: N/A

Pours:

Pours a dark orangish amber with fine white head.

On The Nose:

Super fruity, super fresh! Packed with a tonne of stone fruits, orange rind, pineapple and fresh pine needles.

Palate:

Lots of stewed tropical and stone fruits with orange up front with plenty of pine and resin. The oil resin coats the mouth and carries the bitterness to an amazing extent, it’s a beautiful thing: a real stand out on the palate.

Final Thoughts:

To me, this is THE benchmark to which all IPA should aspire to. Incredibly fresh; lots of apricot, peach, pineapple, juicy orange and a great resin note that coats the entire mouth with pine needles and stewed fruits. Balanced with  a great malt profile that provides us with some sweetness, you will find some biscuit/ cereal notes here. Seriously, if you have any friends beginning to dip their toe into the craft beer ocean give them this, it will set them on the right path. Brilliant.
